How Do I Become Saved?
The Bible says:
9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
When you believe with faith and become saved you have just begun a close, personal relationship with your Father in heaven. When you confess with your mouth and believe with your heart, you receive the gift of eternal life. You are spared from death by God's grace and will reside in paradise with God when you die!
When you accept that Jesus died for your sins, you are released from the deception, confusion, fear, insecurity and darkness Satan had you bound with. Though the world continues its dark ways, you can have peace of mind that you can get no other way. Though you are still human, and in the same place physically, your mind starts to change. You have been born again a new person in Christ. You start the journey of learning the real meaning of your life, who God is, and just how precious you are to Him.
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”
1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
So how exactly is this whole "getting saved" thing done? It's really very simple. In order to apply this great gift to your life, you must ask for it.
#1- You come to the conclusion that there has to be more to life, and admit that a loving God is someone you want to get to know.
#2- You acknowledge that Jesus is the son of God and died so that you can live. You ask Him into your heart to forgive you of your sins, and He begins to transform your life.
Bam. Done. When you do this it sets into motion a whole chain of events. God begins to do good works within you. You are the child of the King! If we trust God, he can help us to move mountains!
Beginning a new relationship with God takes only your free will and a choice. Jesus knows your heart and your needs. When you have faith in God and walk and talk with him every day, he will reveal himself to you. When you are saved you have the security of knowing that no matter what happens, the Holy Spirit is with you, and that you are loved unconditionally. Amazing things can happen. You won't find these gifts anywhere else!
24 “The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
26 The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.”’
