In the Bible is this story about Jesus:
7 A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” 8 For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.
9 Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
11 The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? 12 Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?”
13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.
What a gift we've been offered! When Jesus' physical body died, our sins died along with it. Then, on the third day Jesus rose from the dead and ascended to heaven(which is why we celebrate Easter). If you accept the gift of salvation, you will have everlasting life when you die!
2 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ, 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Before Jesus came people were required to go through preists who spoke to God, and to perform rituals and follow rules in order to obtain salvation from God. Once Jesus died for us, the need to perform rituals was made obsolete. Through Jesus people could be saved by His grace because of God's mercy, and he is with us all the time. We should all be so excited we can hardly stand it!
What Does God Look Like?
Who knows really? I don't. It's hard to say what a spiritual being looks like, especially God. Even in heaven God might not have a physical body, or be confined to one place - any more than He is now. Heaven isn’t a place like earth, only slightly more beautiful. Heaven is far more glorious than anything we can ever imagine, and in heaven we will be living in a whole new dimension.
The Bible records a prophesy that was given to the Apostle John :
1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants—things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John, 2 who bore witness to the word of God, and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, to all things that he saw. 3 Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.
In the prophesy he described heaven this way:
11 It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel
Does God Send People To Hell?
No, God does not send people to Hell. Why would He invite us to accept the free gift of eternal life if He wanted people to go to hell? He's trying to prevent us from going to hell, not send us there! God wants us to spend eternity in paradise with him! That's why Jesus died, and that's why he offers us the free gift of salvation.
The best trick Satan has ever played is convincing the world that he doesn't exist, or that hell is going to be a big bonfire party with endless bbq, beer, and karaoke. The devil is a liar.
42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. 46 Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? 47 He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”
Though no one can say exactly what hell will be like, I'm pretty sure it's not anywhere I want to be. I would guess that hell will be the opposite of heaven, and since heaven is described in the Bible as "paradise", hell must be darkness and silence, pain, loneliness and despair.
Hell isn't meant for us - it's Satan's domain, but it's up to you to choose one or the other. That's why you have "free will". If you don't choose God, then you won't go to heaven when you die, you'll go to hell. Not because God sent you there, but because of the consequences of your own choice. You can't be with Satan in heaven because that's not where Satan is, and you can be with God in hell because that's not where God is. God said:
15 “I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! 16 But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!
20 “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. 21 Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne.
Christians aren't perfect, nobody is. Good and evil both enter this world through us humans, so we have to decide which one we stand for.
You don't have to be worthy to be saved, only willing. It's Jesus who makes us worthy! He came to save the world, not condemn it! God tends to recruit from the pit, not the pulpit. Look at the Bible. Throughout the whole thing God worked through murderers, thieves, adulterers, prostitutes and more.
Even if you believe there's more to you than evolved pond scum, maybe you feel that you'll be ridiculed for learning about Jesus. Maybe you wonder why a loving God allows terrible things to happen. Just know that He only reveals the truth to believers:
21 At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
22 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
Maybe you've done awful things in the past and you don't think God will have you. Nothing could be farther from the truth! He had only to speak a word and the world was formed! He can handle anything you throw at Him. Just begin. Ask Jesus into your heart and he will begin a transformation in your life, starting today!
